The widespread flu activity can now be considered an epidemic in Georgia according to doctors at Emory Hospital.
They say typically if 10% of patients who see a doctor with flu-like symptoms get diagnosed with influenza, that's an epidemic, but at this point 30% of patients are being treated for it.
Health officials hope this will be the peak of flu season in Georgia, but the CDC says flu activity can last as late as May.
Even though 19 states report widespread flu activity, Georgia leads the way.
