Dawson County Schools no longer employs 'character coach'

The "character coach" that allegedly prayed with the Dawson County High School Footbal team will no longer lead the students in prayer.

The Georgia News Network reports Russell Davis is now listed as a volunteer and not as a character coach on the football team's website. They also report administrators of the school system will abide by the court decisions on the matter.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation sent a letter last week to the Dawson County School Board's legal counsel, stating the school system was not allowed to employ a chaplain or seek out a spiritual leader for students, and can't have a volunteer teach students that character is based on religion.
