Softball: Chestatee, Branch win in 7-4A; East Hall cinches 7-3A title; Buford closes 8-5A with a win

ALPHARETTA — Chestatee won its fifth straight Region 7-4A contest Tuesday with an 11-0, five-inning whitewash of Denmark on the road.

Elizabeth Eddins tossed a one-hitter while fanning 12 in the complete-game victory for Chestatee. The win for the Lady War Eagles (8-13, 5-6 Region 7-4A) moved them within one-half game of Blessed Trinity (12-9, 5-5) for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Chestatee will close out its regular season at home on Thursday against Denmark. Blessed Trinity was taking on Flowery Branch on Tuesday and then closes out its regular season on the road against the Lady Falcons, who are fighting for the region title with Marist.

Katie Palmieri led Chestatee driving in four runs on three hits. The Lady War Eagles Varsity got things quickly on a RBI groundout by Kala Sargent in the first inning. Chestatee exploded for a 5-run second to begin putting the game out of reach.

The Lady War Eagles racked up 11 hits with Palmieri, Eddins, and Katilyn Babb each collecting multiple hits.

 

EAST HALL 12,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 0

The Lady Vikings clinched the Region 7-3A crown Tuesday with a big win over the Lady Bears on the road. They will close out the regular season on Thursday playing host to rival North Hall.

Macy Banks scattered two hits and struck out 9 to lead East Hall (14-9, 11-0 Region 7-3A).

East Hall started quick scoring two runs each in the first and second innings and then blew the game open with a 7-run sixth. Gracie Smith, Banks, Abigail Brown, Calli Hardison, and Kaitlyn Daniel all drove in runs in the big inning.

The Lady Vikings pounded out 15 hits with Alexis Burce, Brown, Smith, Carley Cox, and Daniel all with multiple hits.

 

FLOWERY BRANCH 13,
BLESSED TRINITY 3

The Lady Falcons moved within one win of clinching the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region 7-4A tournament with a big win over the Lady Titans in six innings on the road.

The two teams will play again on Thursday at Flowery Branch with the Region 7-4A regular season crown on the line. A Lady Falcons' win will give them the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next week's Region 7-4A region tournament.

Flowery Branch (12-10, 10-1 Region 7-4A) was led offensively by seniors Valerie Eder (3-for-4, 5 RBI) and Bella Quinn (3 RBI). Freshman slapper Kate Stage reached base three times while senior Alyssa Kimbrell pitched a complete game fanning seven to get the win.
