An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed by a train under the Queen City Parkway bridge Thursday morning.
Local authorities said they were alerted to the incident by Norfolk Southern after 6 a.m.
For now, no information has been released on the identity of the deceased person or on the circumstances surrounding the death.
Gainesville police said the victim was an adult female.
The railroad crossing at Georgia Avenue remained closed at last report.
