Linder scores Lucas Southern Midget Car win at WBS

By Brandon Reed Reporter

Matt Linder drove to the Lucas Oil Southern State Midget Car Series victory on Saturday night, as Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway played host to the tour.

The Hoschton, Georgia driver powered to the lead on the opening lap, and drove away to score the win.

Starting on the outside of the front row, Linder took the lead on the drop of the green flag. One lap later, the action would be broken up by a scary crash involving Winder, Georgia’s Mike Magic in the first turn. Magic climbed out uninjured and waved to the crowd.

Back under green, Linder again drove to the lead, only to see his advantage over the field disappear with a second caution, this time for a stalled car on the front stretch.

When racing resumed, Linder again powered to the lead. He would go unchallenged the rest of the way en route to the victory.

Connor Leoffler finished in second, with Tim Nye in third, Otto Scrape in fourth and Bob Tarpanio in fifth.

In other action, Chad Puckett was declared the winner of the Limited Late Model feature after apparent winner John Anderson was disqualified post-race. Ken Lampp moved to second, with Chris Woods third and Shawn Tullis fourth.

Ronnie Poole held off Wormy Gaddis for the Modified Street victory. Aaron Criswell, Kevin Shaw and Tyler Bulkoski rounded out the top five.

Tim Corbin was the winner in the Stock V8 feature. Mark Chancey crossed the line in second, followed by Jeff Casper in third and Seth Brown in fifth.

Michael Lewis took the victory in the Hobby feature, with Chris Jones in second, Austin Brumbelow in third, Robin Collins in fourth and Matthew Ferguson in fifth.

Justin Taylor took the win in the Stock 4A feature, followed by Allen Cantrell second, Leebo Bridges third, Elliott Brayboy fourth and Chris Thompson fifth.

Tyler Wood scored the victory in the Stock 4B feature. Tyler Thompson was second, with Robert Booth in third, Dustin Kennedy in fourth and Brandon Franklin in fifth.

Winder-Barrow Speedway is slated to return to action on Saturday, September 22. For more information, visit WinderBarrowSpeedway.net.
