Sugar Hill's E-Center to be completed by mid-October, officials say; open house planned

If everything stays on schedule, Sugar Hill's new E-Center, a 30,000 square-foot restaurant, retail and office space, should be completed by mid-October, local officials say.

The facility also includes a performing arts center, the Eagle Theater, and a gymnasium — all just a short walk away from The Bowl, Sugar Hill's event venue.

"This is about a $47-million community project. We're real pleased with it. It's changing the face of Downtown Sugar Hill," Paul Radford, city manager, told AccessWDUN.

A grand opening event, including open house tours, is tentatively planned to happen around the Sugar Rush Festival, which is October 20.

"We're still in the stages of planning that, because it's a moving target," said Radford.

Once contractors finish the construction work, the fire marshal will have to inspect the facility before the city can let the public have a look around.

"We will have, probably, a week-long celebration of the opening of it, because we want the community to see what they've invested in," said Radford.

Sugar Hill officially broke ground on the project, located on West Broad Street, in the summer of 2016.
