Nicholson man charged for Sep. 8 wreck that seriously injured four

A Nicholson man is facing charges in connection to a traffic accident that injured five people, four of them seriously, earlier this month.

Timothy Clay, 22, was driving a Chevy Cruze west on New Kings Bridge Road in the Nicholson area around 4:40 p.m. when he passed another car in a no-passing zone, officials with the Georgia State Patrol said.

As the pass was happening, another car, an Audi A6 driven by Timothy Allen Anglea, was headed east along the curve.

Both cars swerved, but still collided head on, troopers said, resulting in serious injuries to two passengers in Clay's car, Anglea and one passenger in Anglea's car.

A third passenger in Clay's car suffered injuries, but they were not serious, troopers said.

Clay's Cruze caught fire after the crash, and was fully engulfed in flames when first responders got the scene.

Clay was booked into the Jackson County Jail Monday on four counts of serious injury by vehicle, and one count each of reckless driving, no seat belt for a passenger, passing in a no-passing zone and passing on a curve.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Clay remained in custody.
