*The North Georgia Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees will host its 16th Annual Bridge Party, October 9, on the Currahee Campus of North Georgia Technical College.  To date, the Foundation, through the tournaments, has provided over 800 students with scholarships to pay for GED testing at a cost of $73,487.  For ticket information, call the Foundation Office at 706-754-7714 or the Currahee Campus at 706-779-8100. *Truett McConnell University will host STEM Day October 11 beginning at 10:30 a.m. STEM Day, sponsored by the Pilgram Marpeck School of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and the office of Undergraduate Admissions, is a one-day event providing prospective students a preview of the campus and its state-of-the-art laboratories. *The Gainesville City Council has reappointed Michelle Mintz to the SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) VII Citizens' Review Committee.

*Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School has been home away from home for a group of South Carolina boarding students and faculty forced to evacuate from Hurricane Florence.  Twelve international boarding students from Ashley Hall School, an independent all-girls school in Charleston, South Carolina, arrived last week as the storm threatened to hit the coastline.

*Safe Kids Forsyth and the Forsyth County Fire Department are partnering during Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 23-29) to help ensure children are riding safely throughout the year. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, Safe Kids Forsyth will host a free car seat checkup event at Old Navy (2255 Market Pl. Blvd.) in Cumming.
