*The Kiwanis Club of Gainesville's 57th Annual Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, Sept. 22, 7:00-11:00, at the Gainesville Civic Center. 

*The Braselton Police Department has earned its state re-certification through 2021 and was recognized by the state’s certification program. Mark Bender, state certification director, presented the department with a plaque at the September 10 city council meeting. 

*This year's John Jarrard Foundation Concert will be held Sept. 22 in Gainesville on the Brenau University Front Lawn.  More details, including a list of this year's performers, can be found here.

*Young Harris College’s Theatre Young Harris will begin the 2018-2019 season with “Wanda’s Monster,” the annual show for young audiences sponsored by the Fred Register Endowment for Children’s Theatre. Performances will run for local schools Wednesday-Friday, Sept. 19-21, with a free public performance on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. in Glenn-McGinnis Hall.

*"Sophie and the Pirates," which tells of life aboard a pirate ship, will be presented by the Gainesville Theater Alliance starting later this month.  GTA will hold a free Stage Tour (a sneak peek behind the scenes) at 6:00 pm, Sept. 20, in  Pierce Auditorium at Brenau University.   Presented by WonderQuest, GTA’s theater for young audiences, it will run Sept. 28-Oct. 6.  More details, including ticket information, can be found here.
