Analysis shows Barrow County EMS "generally well prepared"

A recent study of the fire fighting ability of Barrow County could lead to property owners saving money on insurance payments.

The Insurance Service Office conducted the analysis for Public Protection Classification and found Barrow County is generally well prepared.

County Interim Fire Chief Alan Shuman says the ISO looked at such things as water delivery, 9-1-1 service, and quality of county EMS services.

When the passing rating goes into effect December 1, property owners may see a reduction in premium, according to the release.

The county is analyzed by the ISO every three to five years and Shuman said Tuesday the county is already looking for ways to improve before the next analysis.
