Hall County to consider reevaluating Spout Springs-Capitola Farm intersection after widening project

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Hall County officials have proposed a reevaluation of an intersection affected by the upcoming widening of Spout Springs Road.

Public Works Director Ken Rearden presented the plan at the Hall County Commission's Monday work session. If approved by the commission, the plan would have officials evaluate the intersection of Spout Springs Road and Capitola Farm Road 10 to 12 months after the widening project has been completed.

Capitola Farm Road runs from Spout Springs Road to Hog Mountain Road and also serves as an access road for part of the large Sterling on the Lake subdivision. The current plans for the intersection, according to Rearden, do not call for a red light or a median break.

"This project is already in a lockdown mode where the design is complete," Rearden said.

He said that, because of that, officials will not be able to make changes to the design of any intersection in the project until construction is finished. The Hall County Commission will vote on the reevaluation plan at its Thursday voting session.
