Hall County parent faces more charges following school threat

A Clermont man, already in jail for allegedly threatening violence against Wauka Mountain Elementary School in North Hall County, is now facing addition charges.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth said Thursday Thomas Shannon Bruce, 35, was already facing charges of terroristic threats and misdemeanor disruption of a public school.

Booth said Bruce is now facing charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Bruce allegedly threatened to shoot up the school when he was refused permission to pick up his child. Bruce and his estranged wife apparently are involved in a custody dispute and Bruce is not on the approved pick-up list for the children.

As of Thursday, Bruce remained in the Hall County Detention Center and will have a committal hearing on the Sept. 21.
