Repko rolls to Bobby Isaac Memorial win at Hickory

By Track PR

Ryan Repko battled with several challengers and even with Mother Nature en route to the victory in Saturday night’s Bobby Isaac Memorial at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway.

Repko took the lead for the final time following a lengthy red flag for rain, and went on to record the win in the 150 lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car feature.

The Denver, North Carolina driver started on the pole, jumping to the early lead before Philip Morris moved to the lead on lap eight. Morris held the lead through a pair of caution flags, but would surrender it to Repko on lap 29. Morris retook the point six laps later, and held it until lap 59 when Charlie Watson charged to the top spot.

Following a pair of caution periods, Watson and Morris battled for first, with the pair swapping the lead a couple of times. The battle came to a halt when a spin on the backstretch drew another yellow flag.

On the restart, the fight between Watson and Morris resumed, but was upended when contact between the leaders sent Morris spinning into the outside wall. Watson was left with a cut tire, sending him to the pits.

When action resumed, Repko found himself battling with Austin Green for the lead. Repko came away with the spot, while Green had to pit with mechanical issues.

Repko held the lead until lap 130, when the skies opened up over Hickory Motor Speedway. After a red flag period to allow for track drying, Repko resumed the lead.

The action was interrupted gain by a hard crash on lap 147, when Ty Gibbs buried his car into the tire barrier in turn one. Gibbs would walk away on his own power, but was visibly upset.

The restart saw Repko racing side-by-side with Austin McDaniel for the lead. Repko would nose ahead on lap 149 and drive on to take the checkered flag first on lap 150.

McDaniel finished in second, with Matt Leicht in third, Chris Hudspeth in fourth and Jagger Jones in fifth.

Ryan Millington, Terry Brooks, Austin Self, Morris and Mitch Walker rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Brandon Lemke scored the win in the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Model feature, with Gage Painter in second, Vince Midas in third, Pat Rachels in fourth and Leland Honeyman in fifth.

Acworth, Georgia’s Jeff Sparks drove to the victory in the Cosmo Motors Street Stocks. Troy DeMarmels came home in second, with Kevin Eby in third, Marshall Sutton in fourth and Mark Whitten in fifth.

Charlie Neill was the winner in the One Design Super Truck feature, with Dakota Slagle, Sheflon Clay, Allen Huffman and Josh Stark rounding out the top five.

Bill Powell scored the win in the Hickory Vintage Racers feature, with Robert Webb in second, Mackie Webb in third and Tom Fenn in fourth.
