Softball: Branch completes sweep of West Hall; North Hall blows away Fannin County

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch softball team took out West Hall 12-4 on Thursday in a Region 7-4A contest in Flowery Branch.

The Lady Falcons responded to a first-inning, three-run home run from the Lady Spartan's Aashayah White, rallying behind the bats of seniors Alexis Nixon (3 for 3, 4 RBI, two doubles and a triple) and Gentry Hammock (2 RBI, reached base in all four at-bats). Hammock ended the game in the 5th inning on a walk-off single.

Branch senior Valerie Eder pitched the first 3 innings (with two strikeouts), and senior pitcher Alyssa Kimbrell came on for 2 innings of relief work (with four strikeouts). 

The Lady Falcons will host Marist on Tuesday in a key showdown between two teams undefeated in region play.

West Hall will travel Denmark on Tuesday.


NORTH HALL 13,
FANNIN COUNTY 4

The Lady Trojans opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kelsey Garland doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

North Hall also scored five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by the Lady Trojans was led by Sam Rooker and Hannah Payne, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Kendyl Chase earned the win for North Hall. She lasted 6 innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out seven and walking zero.

Amelia Sneed was in the circle for Fannin County. She went 5 1/3 innings, allowing 13 runs on 12 hits.  Kayleigh Russell threw 2/3 of an inning in relief.

North Hall tallied 12 hits on the day. Chase, Kennedy Olson, and Kristen Dowdy all managed multiple hits for the Lady Trojans. Chase led North Hall with three hits in five at bats.

The Lady Trojans next play host to Dawson County. 


FLOWERY BRANCH 10,
WEST HALL 0 (TUESDAY)

Lady Falcons senior pitchers Alyssa Kimbrell (first 2 innings) and Valerie Eder (last 3 innings) combined for a 5 inning shut-out of the Lady Spartans on Tuesday in Oakwood. Each pitcher recorded four strikeouts.  

The Falcons' Bella Quinn and Rylee Rothschild and the Spartans' Madison Blum led their teams with two hits apiece.
