U.S. Marshals join hunt for Habersham home invasion suspect

CLARKESVILLE — A man known to frequent locations in Rabun and Stephens counties is wanted by local and federal authorities in connection with a home invasion in Habersham County early Tuesday.

Christopher Allen Wikstrom was last seen leaving Stephens County in a green Nissan Xterra with no front bumper or grill, and possibly was heading to the Franklin, N.C., area, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

“In the early morning hours of Aug. 21, Christopher Allen Wikstrom committed the acts of home invasion and aggravated assault in the Hollywood community of Habersham County,” according to a social media post by the sheriff’s office. “The victim of these crimes is familiar with Wikstrom.”

That incident occurred about 4 a.m., according to Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Wurtz.

There currently are active arrest warrants for Wikstrom in multiple jurisdictions, including North Carolina, and arrest warrants also are being taken in Habersham County, according to Wurtz.

Information about Wikstrom’s whereabouts may be called in to Habersham County Dispatch at (706) 778-3911, or the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 754-6666.

Anyone who sees Wikstrom should not approach him, but rather dial 9-1-1 immediately.
