Woman murders husband, kills self in Forsyth County home

By B.J. Williams

A woman killed her husband in a home on Memphis Street in northern Forsyth County over the weekend and then killed herself, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Cpl. Doug Rainwater said the investigation is ongoing, but they believe 32-year-old Jackielyn Belangel Brewster murdered 50-year-old Adrian Lavaughan Brewster at some point over the weekend.

"Then sometime early this morning we believe that she texted a friend to have us come and check on the family, and thereafter she took her own life," Rainwater said.

Rainwater said the friend called 911 and officers arrived at the home around 3:45 a.m. to find the adults dead. They also discovered two children in the home; they were unharmed.

Rainwater said autopsies will be conducted to determine the time and manner of death for both adults.

"The autopsies should determine how many hours she went from her husband's murder to taking her own life this morning," Rainwater said.

Rainwater said deputies had responded to domestic disputes at the residence on Memphis Street in the past.

The children, ages 9 and 3, are safe in an undisclosed location for now, but Rainwater said they hope to turn them over to family members as soon as possible.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is in charge of the investigation.
