UPDATED STORY: Police: Child injured in wreck outside Buford school

UPDATE 8/21, 11:55 A.M. — Gwinnett Police said via email Tuesday morning that the boy, whose identity has not been released, is expected to survive. The police report on the crash has not been finalized, so details of the crash have not been released.

A boy was injured Monday morning in a wreck outside of Ivy Creek Elementary School in Buford, police said.

A 911 call reported the accident at 7:21 a.m. on Ridge Road, said Cpl. Pihera, Gwinnett Police public information officer.

The boy, under the age of 10, was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Egleston, but his condition was not immediately known, Pihera said in an email to AccessWDUN.

Police are unsure if the boy was in a car seat or under a standard seat belt, and they believe the boy is a student at the school.

As of 11:30 Monday morning, the case remained under investigation.
