FLOWERY BRANCH — Chestatee used a four-run ninth inning to pull out a 10-6 win over Cherokee Bluff Wednesday in girls softball action.
Elizabeth Eddins broke the tie with a RBI single in the ninth and the Lady War Eagles (3-4) added three more, including a two-run double from Katilyn Babb, to put the game away.
Babb finished with three hits and drove in five runs for Chestatee. The Lady War Eagles collected 12 safeties and Kala Sargent banged out four hits.
Cherokee Bluff (0-3) took an early lead in the first inning on a Chestatee error. But Chestatee took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh before the Lady Bears plated three to send it to extra innings.
Eddins went nine innings, allowing nine hits and six runs and struck out 14 while walking just one to get the win for Chestatee.
The Lady War Eagles are off until Tuesday when they travel to Atlata to open Region 7-4A play against Marist.
Cherokee Bluff travels to North Hall on Thursday to open Region 7-3A play.

The Lady Wolves used a six-run first inning to grab the lead and then held on for the victory Wednesday in the Hawk/Bulldog invitational tournament at Mill Creek High School.
After Cambridge answered with a run in the bottom of the first, Buford added a pair of runs in the second. Cambridge scored five in the third to pull within 8-6 but the Lady Wolves scored a run in the sixth.
Sophomore Abbi Perkins paced a 13-hit Buford attack with three hits and three RBI. Junior Anabel Adams and senior Kelly Paulson each had two hits and combined to score four runs. Senior Shea Bayreuther also had two hits for the Lady Wolves.
Sophomore Riley Reese (1-0) got the win going 2 1/3 innings allowing six runs, just three earned, on nine hits and no walks.
Buford resumes play in the Hawk/Bulldog tournament on Friday. The Lady Wolves will take on Lambert at 4 p.m. and Northside Columbus at 6 p.m.
