(UPDATE) Softball: Lady Falcons top White County to open 7-4A play; North Hall falls to Stephens

CLEVELAND — The Flowery Branch girls softball team opened Region 7-4A play Tuesday with a 5-0 victory over White County in the first of a home-and-home series with the Lady Warriors.

The two teams will meet again on Thursday at Hog Mountain Park.

The Falcons led 2-0 until a three-run top of the fifth opened things up. Senior Alexis Nixon powered Flowery Branch (2-1, 1-0 Region 7-4A) scoring three times and belting a solo home run in the second inning. Aubrey Bourrie and Valerie Eder both had triples for the Lady Falcons.

Alyssa Kimbrell recorded her second shutout win of the season pitching a complete game, striking out five and scattering three hits.

NORTH HALL 4

North Hall could not hold a 4-0 lead as the Lady Indians rallied for the victory, getting a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 10th inning from Tyra Hunter.

The Lady Trojans got its early lead with a three-run double by Macy Clark. They would take a 4-1 lead into the seventh.

But Stephens County evened things up at four in the seventh when Kayley Sellers, down to her and the team's last strike, rapped a two-run single to tie the game. It stayed that way until the 10th inning.

North Hall pushed its lead to 4-0 in the third on a Kendyl Chase RBI single. But Stephens County answered with one run in the bottom of the inning off a North Hall error.

The Lady Indians tied the game in the seventh getting RBI hits from Jasmine Lowery and Sellers.

Allie Huff was in the circle for Stephens Countybut lasted just two innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out one Singletary relived Huff for 1 2/3 innings before giving way to Emma Whitfield, who went the final came in and pitched 6 1/3 innings in relief with 12 strikeouts to get the win.
