Former Forsyth County Sheriff's Chief Deputy and GBI Director passes

One of the Forsyth County Sheriff Office's Chief Deputies and the state's longest serving GBI Director passed away Saturday.
 
James Robert Hamrick, who went by Robbie, began his career in 1959 as a radio dispatcher with the Georgia Department of Public Safety. 
 
He served with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for 35 years, and as its Director from 1985 to 1993. Hamrick retired from his post at the Forsyth County Sheriff's office in 2012.

Hamrick was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and served as the Past President of this prestigious organization. He also graduated from the FBI National Executive Institute.

Hamrick was a member of the South Forsyth Rotary Club, Forsyth County Arts Alliance Board, Forsyth County YMCA Board and served on the Board of Directors for the Bald Ridge Lodge, a shelter for troubled boys.

His obituary said he and his wife, Linda, reside in Cumming, Georgia and are active members of Johns Creek Baptist Church where he served as Chairperson for the Board of Deacons. 
 
Funeral services are scheduled for this Sunday, August 19th at 6910 McGinnis Ferry Road in Alpharetta.
