GBI: Braselton business owner shot and killed

By B.J. Williams

The owner of a motorcycle repair shop was shot and killed at his Braselton business almost a week ago, and now law enforcement is asking for the public's help as they search for information in the case.

Nelly Miles, a spokeswoman with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), said the Jackson County 911 Center received an emergency call at 1:13 p.m. Friday, July 27. The caller was asking for medical assistance at Adams Motorsports at 11852 Lewis Braselton Boulevard.

Miles said when EMS personnel arrived, they discovered the business owner Eric Adams, 32, unresponsive on the floor of his shop. EMS transported Adams to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville where he was pronounced dead.

Miles said medical staff at the hospital noted a suspicious injury consistent with a gunshot wound and contacted law enforcement. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office then began an investigation, calling in the GBI, the Braselton Police Department and the Jackson County coroner to assist.

Adams’ body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy. Miles said based on the results of that autopsy, Adams' death was ruled a homicide.

Adams' family members set up a Go Fund Me page the day after the murder, asking for financial help for Adams' fiance and their three children. Information on that page indicated Adams was killed on his birthday.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Jackson County Anonymous Tip Line at 706-367-3784.
