Devin Moran, Brandon Sheppard and Chris Madden all scored World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series victories over the weekend.
Moran scored the win at Illinois’ Fairbury American Legion Speedway, while Sheppard was victorious at Wisconsin’s Plymouth Dirt Track and Madden won at Wisconsin’s Shawano Speedway.
On Saturday night, Moran scored the $30,000 win in the 29th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway.
It marks the biggest win of the 23-year-old Dresdin, Ohio driver’s career.
“Once we moved up to the top, I really found something there, and the car was just so phenomenal,” said Moran. “It’s incredible what we can do with such a little team that we have. Everyone on this team has come together, and to be able to do what we’re doing is so unbelievable. It’s by far the biggest one. This tops them all. It’s just incredible what we’ve done, and I can’t thank God enough for blessing us with the capabilities to come out here and race, let alone win.”
Moran took the lead for the first time on lap 42, and would give it up for one circuit on lap 72 to Sheppard. Sheppard would try to retake the point two more times, and was able to get it back briefly on lap 78.
But Moran took the lead again one lap later, and would move away to score the victory.
Mike Marlar came home in second, with Sheppard in third, Madden in fourth and Billy Drake in fifth.
On Monday night, it was Brandon Sheppard would find his way to victory lane at Plymouth Dirt Track for his ninth series victory of the season.
Sheppard took the lead from Moran on lap five, and went on to score the $10,000 win.
It also marks the 33rd series win of Sheppard’s career.
“It was a fun race, but the track was really bottom dominant and that made lapped traffic really tricky. I knew three and four was decent on top, but I wasn’t too sure about going up there and try to pass lapped cars,” said Sheppard. “The biggest thing about going to a new track is that you don’t have any bad habits from there. When you’re racing against this type of competition though, you’ve got to be on your game all the time. It’s always good to gain a few points, but at the end of the day as long as we’re winning races, we’re happy.”
Moran, Tyler Erb, Madden and Brian Shirley rounded out the top five.
On Tuesday night, it was Chris Madden scoring a dominating victory in the Sundrop Shootout at Shawano Speedway.
The Gray Court, South Carolina driver led all 50 laps en route to his sixth series win of the season, which moves him into a tie with Mike Marlar for the championship points lead.
“We’ve just been trying a lot of different things,” said Madden. “But tonight, we came here and got back to base line and got back to what we’ve been doing before, and we had some speed in the car and sure enough, the car really came back to us.
“I can’t say I haven’t focused on the points, but it’s not my main concern. If we win races, we’re going to win the points. If we run in the top two or three, we’re going to have a shot at winning it. So, we’re just out here doing the best that we can do and be satisfied with what the good Lord gives us.”
A pair of Peach State drivers chased Madden to the checkered flag, with Zebulon, Georgia’s Shane Clanton finishing in second and Blairsville, Georgia’s Jonathan Davenport in third. Don O’Neal finished in fourth, with Moran in fifth.
