Gwinnett drug-trafficking raid includes house in Hog Mountain

Authorities say they expect more arrests in the coming days after agents with the Gwinnett Metro Task Force raided 17 homes to bust a marijuana trafficking organization.

Lawrenceville Police Lt. Jake Parker said Wednesday's raids were mostly concentrated in south and central Gwinnett County, but one of the homes was in the Hog Mountain area.

Parker said the marijuana grow operation was fairly sophisticated, and each home had its own purpose.

He explained that, "Some of them would be stash houses for money or stash houses for distribution of the product or just happen to be where people who are working with the operation would go to sleep or rest."

Parker says more arrests are likely coming in the case, but he says the raids targeted a single drug-trafficking operation. He told reporters, "Right now I can confirm that there are seven people being charged, but there will be more."

Most of the homes were located south of Highway 316 in Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Snellville and Grayson and many were vacant.
