UPDATE: Police ID woman found dead in Suwanee Monday

The body of a woman found in the basement of a Suwanee home Monday has been turned over to the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

Gwinnett Police Cpl. Wilbert Rundles said 63 year-old Dorothy Ann D'Anna lived in the basement apartment of the house and the homeowners called 9-1-1 when the renter was discovered dead.

"There was a 63-year-old female discovered deceased in her bed," Rundles said. "The homeowners had been away from home for a while and found her when they returned."

He added evidence discovered by first responders led them to call in more officers.

"When they made entry into the home, they found some things that appeared suspicious to them and they called in detectives for further investigation,: Rundles said.

Rundles said the cause of death was not obvious and investigators are hoping the medical examiner can tell them more.

The home is located in the Collins Port Cove area near Collins Hill High School.
