No arts center for Forsyth County

Forsyth County leaders will not move forward in exploring the idea of an arts center.

During a recent work session, county leaders spoke briefly with Procurement Director Donna Kukarola about the idea. She told the board that she reached out to surrounding counties to look at ideas and get an idea of budgeting, which she estimated around $40,000.

The idea has been repeatedly discussed including past work sessions held on Jan. 24, 2017,  July 25, 2017 and Oct. 10, 2017. However, commissioners quickly shut down any further discussion about the possibility.

Concerns included lack of interest from the public as well as a doubling up of efforts by the school board due to a performing arts center being on their plans for an upcoming bond.
