UNG rifle team puts 4 on SoCon Spring academic All-Conference Team

By UNG Athletics Communications

Four University of North Georgia rifle student-athletes were named to the Southern Conference's (SoCon) Spring Academic All-Conference team as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Ruthanne Conner, Hannah Peevy, Tobin Sanctuary and Brianna Shaw were four of a SoCon record 570 selections to the team. The previous record for the league was 479 on last spring's team.

The Nighthawks have won back-to-back SoCon Championships as an affiliate member of the league in rifle since the sport was restarted last year. UNG has also won five straight Georgia State Championships and five straight Senior Military College Championships.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
