Former Georgia police officer arrested

By The Associated Press

FORT VALLEY, Ga. (AP) — A former veteran police officer for a Georgia city has been arrested for allegedly using his position to obtain motor vehicle registration information on a person who was not under criminal investigation.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says 45-year-old Vetrimyer Miller, of Warner Robins, faces a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of identification documents. Miller was a 15-year veteran of the Fort Valley Police officer, detached to the Peach County Drug Unit last year, when authorities say he used his official position to illegally obtain the information.

The GBI, in a news release, said Miller surrendered to authorities on Friday and was released on his own recognizance. Investigators don't know why he accessed the information.

The Telegraph reports neither Miller nor his attorney were able to be reached for comment.
