Crews complete rescue of individual injured at Panther Creek Falls

Emergency services personnel have completed the rescue of an individual who experienced a substantial fall at Panther Creek Falls, according to Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black.

Due to the person’s injuries, rescuers requested a Georgia Department of Natural Resources helicopter to assist in a long-line rescue of the individual. Unfortunately, due to weather all aviation units are unable to assist.

“Crews will have an extended time removing the patient from the area for transport,” Black said shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Black said the extrication of the hiker had been completed and that he was being transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
