Judy Taylor, the recently-retired President of the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce, has been named Coordinator of the Neighborhood Grant Program at Piedmont College.

In this new role, Taylor, who has 43 years of experience in higher education, recruiting and business development, will assist in recruiting nontraditional adult students, advise Piedmont’s Leadership Studies Program and plan student recruiting events.

Taylor announced her retirement from the chamber June 18.  She has also served as Vice President for Economic Development at North Georgia Technical College.

“Dr. Taylor will be a tremendous ambassador for Piedmont College,” said Dr. Perry Rettig, Piedmont’s Vice President for Enrollment Management and Athens Campus. “She has deep connections in our community and a wealth of experience. Dr. Taylor has a unique understanding of the needs of both employers and adult learners because she has served as both an educator and economic developer.”

Taylor joined the chamber in 2009 and has authored three business textbooks. She worked 34 years in the Technical College System of Georgia, 20 at Athens Technical College and 14 at North Georgia Technical College.

Taylor will begin her new role in September.
