Gas line rupture shuts down Cornelia road, restaurant

CORNELIA — A crew digging a water line with a small excavator cut a two-inch gas line just outside Cornelia Tuesday night.

That incident resulted in the closure of J Warren Road between Business 441 and Old Cleveland Road from about 7 to 10 p.m.

“We did shut down and evacuate Ribeyes Steakhouse,” said Assistant Fire Chief Jason Davey of Habersham County Emergency Services.

The gas company arrived on scene and was continuing to repair the line that was cut.

Habersham County Engine 12 and battalion chief, and Fire Chief Jeff Cain were on scene, assisted by Cornelia Fire Department Engine 2, according to Davey.
