Lake Lanier group teaches Boy Scouts about D-Day

By AccessWDUN Staff

Members of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 29 Lake Lanier spent part of Wednesday teaching Boy Scouts about the importance of June 6 in U.S. history.

It was the 74th anniversary of D-Day, the allied invasion of Europe during World War II - a major turning point in the war.

The scouts learned that, as part of the invasion, Coast Guard coxswains drove special landing craft to the beaches in Normandy, France.
