Recent North Hall grad and Georgia Tech-signee Reese Olson, and former Gainesville High and current Georgia Bulldog standout Michael Curry both were selected on Wednesday in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Former Buford High and current Clemson University standout Jake Higginbotham was drafted in the 11th round by the Atlanta Braves.

Olson, a right-handed pitcher, was taken in the 13th round by the Milwaukee Brewers. Curry was taken in the 16th round by the San Diego Padres.

Olson helped lead North Hall to the 2017 Class 3A state title, the program's first ever. The Trojans lost in the second round of the 2018 playoffs to eventual state champion Lovett but Olson set a new school-record in wins by the end of the season.

Curry was a key player for the Red Elephants when they advanced to the 2015 Class 5A state championship series. He has been a two-year captain for the Bulldogs, who advanced to their first NCAA Regional since 2011 last week. Georgia fell in the regional finals to Duke but Curry had a big regional with 8 hits, including three home runs, and 8 RBI.

Higginbotham, a left-handed pitcher, helped lead Buford to a Class 4A state title in 2015 and recently has been a starter for the Tigers and helped lead them to a regional berth in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

There has been no word yet on whether either of the three players are expected to sign with the prosepctive major league clubs.
