By AccessWDUN Staff

Heavy thunderstorms blew through the area during rush hour Friday afternoon causing downed trees, phone outages, and power outages that include several red light failures.

Jackson EMC reports that almost 3,300 customers were without power with over 2,000 of those living in Hall County  after the storms hit. As of 8:20 PM 989 customers remained offline.

Sawnee EMC said more than 2,000 of their customers were also without power with 135 off at that same time.

Habersham EMC reported only one customer was knocked offline, but Georgia Power posted 2,000 customers were still off as of 8:30 PM.

Emergency crews were reported to be out in full force trying to clear the debris off the roadways and are asking everyone to stay off the roads for now if possible.

Flooding continued in many areas of Northeast Georgia.
