Students recognized for fire safety

By AccessWDUN Staff

The Forsyth County Fire Department recently recognized the winners of the department’s 2018 Fire Safety Poster Contest.

The three winners are:

  • Emme Bigbie, a student at Vickery Creek Elementary
  • Kenlee Haney, a student at Veritas Classic School/Homeschool
  • Shreya Rout, a student at Big Creek Elementary

All three winners will be treated to a pizza party with their classmates and local firefighters and will receive a certificate of accomplishment from Forsyth County Fire Chief Danny Bowman.

The winners were recognized and congratulated by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners at their meeting May 17, and will have the honor of having their artwork displayed in county buildings.

“We are very proud of these three students and of every student who submitted a poster,” said Bowman. “Reaching our community’s children through our department’s many public education efforts is something in which we take a great deal of pride.”

The annual Fire Safety Poster Contest is open to all third-grade students in Forsyth County public, private and home schools. This was the eighth year the contest was held.
