Baldwin police investigating armed home invasion

BALDWIN — Baldwin police say a city resident reported that an armed man forced his way into her home just after 9:30 Thursday morning.

The incident happened on Brookcrest Drive in the Meadow Brook Manufactured Home Community, located off West Airport Road in Baldwin.

“Basically, a guy showed up at the house, knocked on the door, and kind of pushed his way in looking for somebody who didn’t actually live there,” Baldwin Police Chief Charles Webb said.

No injuries were reported, but the man did make threats to the resident.

“The victim got him convinced that the person didn’t live there, and he basically showed her a gun and told her she’d better not call the police,” Webb said.

The Lee Arrendale State Prison K-9 Unit was called in to search for the man, who now is believed to have left the area in a vehicle.

Cornelia police officers and Habersham County sheriff’s deputies also responded to help canvass the area for the man.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Baldwin police through Habersham Dispatch at (706) 778-3911.
