By B.J. Williams

The Georgia State Patrol has confirmed a Lumpkin County man died in a single-vehicle accident on Monday night.

Troopers said in a press statement 52-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Disharoon was killed when the 1995 Econoline van he was driving left Highway 52 West in a curve near Applewood Lane. The van overturned and hit a tree.

"The crash investigation revealed that the van was traveling too fast to negotiate a left-hand curve," the  statement said.

A front seat passenger in the van, 55-year-old Tambra Nelson of Lumpkin County, was injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment. The extent of her injuries was unknown.

Investigating troopers said both Disharoon and Nelson were wearing seat belts.  Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
