Playoff soccer: Branch girls reach semis; 4 boys teams looking for Final 4 spots

The Flowery Branch girls pushed their way back into the state semifinals on Friday, while the White County and Jackson County girls before ultimately falling in the quarterfinals.

On Saturday four northeast Georgia boys soccer programs will look to join the Lady Falcons in the Final Four, as the Chestatee, East Hall, Gainesville, and Johnson boys eeach compete in their respective third round state playoff matches -- all at home.

The Chestatee boys are making their first ever quarterfinal appearance and will take on perennial power Woodward Academy at 7 p.m. Saturday in Gainesville.

Meanwhile, East Hall is gunning for its third straight semifinal berth when it hosts Windsor Forest from Savannah at 2 p.m. in the Class 3A semifinals.

In Class 5A, Johnson is looking to get back to the semifinals for the second time in three seasons when it plays host to Union Grove at 6 p.m.

And in Class 6A, Gainesville is still seeking its second straight state championship game berth when it takes on Richmond Hill at 2 p.m.
