Clarkesville police seek public’s help solving commercial burglaries

CLARKESVILLE — Clarkesville Police Chief Brad Barrett is calling on the public to help his officers solve a string of burglaries at businesses located at Old Clarkesville Mill on Grant Street.

About 8 a.m. Thursday, April 26, burglaries were reported at Int’l Die Company and at M & P Enterprises, both located in the Old Clarkesville Mill building complex, according to Barrett.

Barrett said business officials reported some $10,000 in tools and equipment taken through unlawful entry into their premises.

“It is believed that this incident occurred between the hours of 3:15 p.m. on April 25 and 8:05 a.m. on April 26,” Barrett said.

Around 9 a.m. Friday, April 27, a second burglary was reported at the businesses. A quantity of equipment was taken during that incident.

Barrett said the second incident is believed to have occurred between the hours of 11 p.m. Thursday, April 26, and 8 a.m. Friday, April 27.

Then, about 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, an Old Clarkesville Mill maintenance worker reported that he had just discovered an exterior door to a maintenance room area had been damaged and entered by unknown person(s).

“Once inside the maintenance area, perpetrators were able to force their way through a second door enabling them to gain access to various other businesses throughout the building,” Barrett said Tuesday. “At the time of this release, it is not known as to how many separate businesses have been burglarized.”

Initials Inc., M & P Enterprises, Old Clarkesville Mill maintenance shop, and Int’l Die Co. are known to have been burglarized.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact Clarkesville Police Department at (706) 754-5390. Any information obtained will remain anonymous.
