Community groups rally support for women's shelter

A boy scout troop and a woman's group in Forsyth County are joining forces to gather donations for Family Haven.

Family Haven is the county's battered women's shelter and Sawnee Woman's Club 1st VP Lois Watts says her group will be outside the Walmart on Market Place Boulevard on April 28th.

"We'll be handing out flyers that have a list of items that the shelter has requested and we'll also be accepting donations too," Watts explains.

She adds that the shelter needs many items because women and children sometimes show up with nothing. She says some of the items on the list include, "twin comforters, toilet cleaner, all-purpose cleaners, diapers, q-tips, bedroom slippers, tooth brushes, baby bibs, baby wash, and the diapers are in all sizes."

A local boy scout troop plans to assist in gathering donations. You can give your donations to the group on April 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
