Tennis: Gainesville, North Hall split matches

GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville boys defeated North Hall 3-2 on Monday, while the North Hall girls swepto to a 5-0 win over Gainesville in matches played at Longwood Park in Gainesville.

The Red Elephants claimed both doubles points and then notched a victory at No. 2 singles to edge out the Trojans.

Dylan Pineda prevailed 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while Max Wuest and Caleb Anderson won 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Michael Head and Joseph Diaz clinched with a third set tiebreak victory at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

North Hall's Masa Kobayashi won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Kody Dills won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

In girls play, the Lady Trojans' Anna Montgomery won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Christen Barnes prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Sydney Patterson also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Lauren Davis and Baylee Turner won 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 at No. 1 doubles, while Ella Oxley and Raquel Kallab prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

The Lady Trojans enter the Region 7-3A tournament on Wednesday as the No. 1 seed; the boys are the No. 3 seed.

Gainesville's boys begin play at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the Region 8-6A tournament at Longwood Park.
