(UPDATE) Baseball: North Hall, GHS complete region sweeps; Chestatee splits with Warriors

BLAIRSVILLE — Mark Swett went six innings allowing just one unearned run on five hits to lead North Hall to a 9-1 victory over Union County in Region 7-AAA action.

The win kept the Trojans (14-3, 9-0 Region 7-AAA) atop of the region standings and as the only unbeaten team in the region at the halfway point.

North Hall led just 2-1 after the third before scoring one in the fourth and four in the fifth to blow the game open. Dylan Wiley had two hits and two RBI to lead a 12-hit attack. Caleb Clark, Reese Olson, Caleb Wiley, and Tyler Brooks all had two hits for the Trojans.

The Trojans will open a big three-game series with East Hall in Rabbittown on Monday.

Union County (6-11, 1-8) will play host to Murphy, (N.C.) on Monday before jumping back into region play against Greater Atlanta Christian on Tuesday.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL 4

Collier Scott smacked a three-run home and Cale Conley had a two-run blast to lead the Red Elephants to a 9-4 win over the Raiders Friday to complete a three-game sweep of their Region 8-6A series at Ivey-Watson Field.

Gainesville (13-6, 4-2 Region 8-6A) moved into second place with the win, its fourth straight in region play.

Conley's blast came during a six-run outburst in the third inning to break a scoreless tie. Habersham Central scored a run in the fourth but Gainesville added three more in the sixth on Scott's shot. The Raiders (10-7, 2-4) scored three in the seventh but it wasn't enough.

Noah Bond got the win on the mound for Gainesville allowing one run on three hits in four innings.

Jackson Kemp had a hit and two RBI and Cameron Wilson had two hits for the Red Elephants.

Hunter Ingle had three hits for Habersham.

 

CHESTATEE 1-4
WHITE COUNTY 0-9

Chestatee's Will Cantrell tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout to lead the War Eagles to the 1-0 win in the first game of a Region 7-4A doubleheader.

The win gave the War Eagles (11-10, 2-7 Region 7-4A) the series win over White County (5-12, 1-8) and the tiebreaker.

The Warriors responded by taking the second game, 9-4, to snap an eight-game losing streak.
