Johnson takes Limited Late Model win at Winder-Barrow

By Brandon Reed Reporter

Jimmy Johnson drove trailed Gus Simpson for just five laps before taking the lead in Saturday night’s Limited Late Model feature at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway, before going on to take the victory.

Johnson and Simpson brought the field down to the green flag to start the feature, with the two making contact as they raced down into turn one. Simpson would take the lead, but saw it go away when the caution flag came out, nullifying the start.

On the second start attempt, Simpson jumped out front again, with Johnson in pursuit. Simpson soon came under fire for the lead by Johnson, and on lap five, Johnson make the pass for the top spot.

Behind the leaders, Chad Puckett and Scott Frady battled for third, with Puckett taking the position. He then began working to hunt down the leaders.

While Johnson moved out to an advantage, Simpson and Puckett began fighting for second, making contact as they fought for the spot.

The caution flew again late in the going, bunching up the field. On the restart, Johnson again drove out to the lead, with Simpson and Puckett battling for second. On the final lap, Puckett finally was able to clear Simpson for the spot off turn two.

Meanwhile, Johnson drove away to the victory. Puckett finished in second, with Simpson in third, Frady in fourth and Logan Stinchcomb in fifth.

In other action, Andy Barton beat out Chris Jones to take the Hobby feature victory. Kevin Tullis finished in third, followed by Dustin Cason in fourth and Chad Atha in fifth.

Jordan Poole was the winner in the Modified Street feature. Aaron Criswell came home in second, with Cowboy Manders in third.

Mark Chancey scored the victory in the Stock V8 feature. Ronnie Poole, Stephen House, Jr. Carter and Russell Page rounded out the top five.

Justin Taylor took the win in the Stock 4A feature, with Kyle Braswell in second, Coty Sanders in third, Randy Peppers in fourth and Allen Cantrell in fifth.

Nick Fulcher was the winner in the Stock 4B. Bobby Croya came home in second, followed by Mark Parker, Sr. in third, Robert Booth in fourth, and Dustin Kennedy in fifth.
