(UPDATE) Baseball: Chestatee snaps losing streak; Vikings fend off Fannin; Lions edge Towns County

RABBITTOWN — East Hall pitching shut down Fannin County bats on Tuesday en route to a 2-0 win for the Vikings in Rabbittown.

Trey Campbell tossed a complete game shutout for East Hall, yielding just 2 hits while striking out 8 batters.

Trevor Rider, meanwhile, led the Vikings (10-6, 5-2 Region 7-AAA) at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Campbell also scored a run against the Rebels (8-10, 3-7).

The two teams square off again in a doubleheader on Friday in Blue Ridge.

WHITE COUNTY 5

Chestatee snapped a six-game Region 7-4A losing streak with a win over White County Tuesday in Cleveland.

Reggie James provided the big blast with a two-run home for the War Eagles (10-9, 1-6 Region 7-4A). Will Cantrell pitched three scoreless innings to close out the win.

It’s a huge win for Chestatee as the two teams are fighting for what is possibly the final playoff spot. The War Eagles can clinch the series with one win on Friday as the two teams move to Chestatee for a doubleheader.

White County (4-11, 0-7) will need to sweep Chestatee on Friday to claim the series and a possible playoff spot.

 

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 6,
TOWNS COUNTY 5

The Lions (8-8) fought back from 2-0 down to secure the win on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Jordan Thomas went 3-for-3, including the game-winning RBI, for Lakeview, while Skyler Thellman went 2-for-2. Sam Stewart also finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Campbell Melson provided an RBI single. Ian Echols and JD Roark also had 1 hit each. 

Melson pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief, earning the win. He allowed only 1 hit and struck out 5 batters. 

The Lions play again at 5 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Military.
