Nighthawks' Johnson named PBC Track Athlete of the Week

University of North Georgia sophomore Aleah Johnson was named the Peach Belt Conference women's track athlete of the week Tuesday by the league office after her week at the Emory Invitational that saw her gain four top-10 finishes.

Johnson ran in three relays and the 400m at the Emory Invitational over the weekend, earning a win, a second and two more top-10 finishes. From Canton, Georgia, she ran the 800 in the distance medley as the Nighthawks finished first in 12:26.81. She ran the opening leg of the 4x400 relay as UNG finished fourth in a time of 4:05.62 and the second leg of the 4x100 relay with a team time of 50.79, fifth-fastest in the PBC this season.

She also ran the 400 as an individual in a time of 57.38, second-fastest in the PBC this season and good for second at the event.

The track and field team will be back at Emory this weekend for the Emory Classic, starting Friday afternoon in Atlanta.
