By AccessWDUN Staff

FLOWERY BRANCH — Riverside Military did its damage atop the podium, while no girls team held a candle to Flowery Branch on Thursday in the Hall County track and field championships at Flowery Branch High.

The Eagles won 12 of 16 events to deny Gainesville's boys a second straight crown, the Red Elephants finishing second with 161.5 points to Riverside's 191. The Branch's boys were third with 93 points.

Meanwhile, the Lady Falcons won seven events and finished inside the top three in 13 events -- including five events in which the Branch took two spots within the top three -- finishing with 180.5 points. Gainesville took second with 111. Chestatee was third at 106.5.

Flowery Branch's gold-level success was spread throughout the team, with five different individuals claiming crowns, plus two relay teams. North Hall's Gracie McBride also enjoyed a stellar day, claiming three individual titles: the 100 and 300 hurdles, as well as the triple jump.

West Hall's Aaliyah James also owned the short sprints, claiming a sweep of the 100 and 200 meters.

Riverside's team also enjoyed plenty of individual success, as Charles Dimnwaobi won the boys 100 and 200 meters and took second in the high jump. Teammate Isaac Teasley also grabbed gold in the 400 meters and triple jump, as well as taking silver in the 200 meters.

The Red Elephants countered with three individual victories, including a hurdles double gold for Davonte Mize (110 and 300 hurdles), who also finished second in the triple jump.
