A few hundred middle and high school students from Gainesville and Hall County will be in Atlanta Thursday and Friday for the Career Expo.
Construction Education Foundation of Georgia CEO Scott Shelar said much of what they experience will be hands-on and is divided into various trades called Worlds.
"In the World of Heavy Equipment, students actually get to drive big yellow equipment. In the Electrical World, students get to assemble and bend conduit. It is very hands on," Shelar said.
More than 8,000 students from across the state are expected to attend the event.
Shelar said there is a big demand for workers in the construction trades. The demand is not likely to decline for several years, according to Shelar.
