OAKWOOD — Johnson High School Athletic Director Jonathan Edwards announced Monday that Jared Hodge will take over the girls basketball program beginning next season.

Hodge currently is in his fifth season as head baseball coach for the Knights. He will be leaving that position at the conclusion of the 2018 season to take over the Lady Knights Program.

The annuncement was made through a press release sent by Hall County spokesman Gordon Higgins Monday morning.

“Johnson is family to me. I have had the opportunity to work here for five years and have gotten to know a lot of our student athletes," Hodge said. "I am excited about the opportunity to work with our girls’ basketball program, and I’m excited for the future that’s ahead of us. Our girls are a very close group, they are hungry for success, and have made tremendous strides over the last year. I am looking forward to getting in the gym, rolling our sleeves up, and getting to work.

“As for baseball I am grateful for my time with our guys. From day one they have done everything we have asked of them and more. We have put in five years of blood, sweat, and tears, and I will miss taking the field with them when this year is over.”

“We are very excited to have a coach of the caliber and character of Coach Hodge to lead our girls’ basketball program," Edwards said. "He has done a great job leading our baseball program, and we look forward to him instilling the same qualities into the Lady Knights program.”
