Soccer: East Hall, Johnson boys battle to 1-1 draw; GHS girls edge shootout; Chestatee girls win

RABBITTOWN — There were no playoff races or seeding battles on the line, but pride provided a lift for both the Johnson and East Hall boys soccer teams, who fought to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday in Rabbittown.

Maury Ibarra provide the lone goal for the Vikings (7-2-1), ranked No. 2 in Class 3A. Sergio Turcios provided the assist against the Knights (6-2-1), who entered as the No. 5-ranked team in Class 5A.

Oscar Rosas helped maintain the draw for East Hall, recording 12 saves in goal.

Johnson returns to region action on Friday at Flowery Branch.

The Vikings, meanwhile, travel to Lumpkin County on March 23.
 

GAINESVILLE GIRLS  6,
WINDER-BARROW 5

Four different Lady Red Elephants scored to edge out the Lady Bulldoggs on Tuesday in Winder.

Isabela Portes and Cindy Bonilla each scored two goals, while Amayia Lukie and Kate Bush (penalty kick) each struck once for Gainesville.

Symone Turner, Portes and Lukie also provided assists for the Lady Red Elephants (3-6, 2-2).

Gainesville plays host to Lanier at 5:30 p.m. Friday at City Park.

 


CHESTATEE GIRLS 1,
OCONEE COUNTY 0

Kyleigh Drew scored in the 30th minute to help lead the Lady War Eagles to the win on Tuesday in Gainesville. 

Skylar Abbott provided the assist for Chestatee.

The Lady War Eagles (4-4-1) play host to Madison County on Friday in Gainesville.


JOHNSON GIRLS 9,
EAST HALL 0

Chela Aviles produced 7 saves in goal for the Lady Vikings (0-8-2) in the loss to the Lady Knights on Tuesday in Rabbittown.

Johnson travels to Flowery Branch in a region contest on Friday.

East Hall, meanwhile, travels to Lumpkin County on March 23.
