City planning staff recommends approval of west Gainesville condominiums

By Ken Stanford Reporter

The Gainesville Planning Department staff is recommending approval of a 79-unit condominium complex on Dawsonville Highway.

As AccessWDUN reported earlier, Lake 53, LLC wants to locate the development on 6.2 acres at 1995 Dawsonville Highway.

"The applicant is proposing to rezone the subject property for the purpose of constructing 79 residential condominiums and a 2,275 square foot office building containing 2 to 3 suites," according to documents on file with the city.  "The condominiums are to consist of two, 6-story buildings, not to exceed 80-feet in height. Each building will have a ground level covered parking area and five levels of residential units."

Amenities are to include a common area, pool, cabana and one unit that will be converted into a clubhouse area.

The planning and appeals board meets Tuesday.
