Franklin County deputy intercepts two pounds of marijuana

CARNESVILLE — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its war on drugs, including those passing through the county on Interstate 85 and other highways.

On Tuesday, Deputy Antwune Mccurry of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle traveling south on I-85 for traffic violations, specifically speeding, according to Sheriff Steve Thomas.

“Deputy Mccurry smelled a strong odor of green marijuana coming from the car and upon searching the car two pounds of marijuana were found,” Thomas told AccessWDUN.

The driver, Marcus Pettice, 28, of Charlotte, N.C., was charged with speeding, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of drug-related objects, according to Thomas.
